Voici encore une nouvelle vague d’images pour l’adaptation Captain America : The First Avenger grâce au site de l’ami Spider-Media. Adaptation réalisée par Joe Johnston (Wolfman) avec dans le rôle principal Chris Evans. Date de sortie : le 20 juillet (France). Le premier spot tv sera disponible dans la nuit de dimanche à lundi, car diffusion pendant le Super Bowl. Découvrez une interview en direct du tournage qui s’est déroulé à Londres il y a quelques mois.

L’histoire débute de nos jours en pleines terres arctiques avec la découverte du corps de Steve Rodgers en état d’hibernation. Précise le chef de la décoration Rick Heinrichs. Puis on revient en flashbacks soixante ans plus tôt, avec l’attaque d’un village norvégien par les nazis.

The story begins today in full Arctic lands with the discovery of the body of Steve Rogers in hibernation. Said Chief Rick Heinrichs decoration. Then we come back in flashbacks sixty years earlier, with an attack on a Norwegian village by the Nazis.

Les scénaristes ont donc choisi de mélanger l’histoire originelle du Captain America vétéran de la guerre 39-45 avec sa version « moderne » dans laquelle il est repêché de nos jours au fond des océans pour commencer une nouvelle vie dans un monde qu’il ne reconnait plus (là se profile déjà l’intrigue de The Avengers).

The writers have therefore chosen to mix the original story of Captain America 39-45 war veteran with his « modern » version in which he was drafted today in the deep ocean to start a new life in a world that no longer recognizes (there is already shaping the plot of The Avengers).

En attendant, Captain America : The First Avenger entend bien satisfaire les amateurs de films sur la Seconde Guerre mondiale en proposant le quota d’action, de réalisme et de glamour que le genre suppose. Une distinction à laquelle Broussard tient beaucoup « s’attaquer à un genre cinématographique différent à chaque film est important afin de ne pas répéter inlassablement les mêmes histoires de superhéros. C’est la seul façon pour l’univers Marvel de garder sa fraicheur. Le film de guerre est ici un cadre de référence qu’on subvertit de manière inattendue. »

Meanwhile, Captain America: The First Avenger intends to satisfy fans of films about the Second World War by proposing the quota of action, realism and the kind of glamor that entails. A distinction that Broussard is keen « to tackle a different genre for each film is important to not keep repeating the same stories of superheroes. It’s the only way for Marvel to keep its freshness. The war film is here a framework that subverts unexpectedly. »

Heinrichs, pour sa part, a pris un plaisir fétichiste à créer de toutes pièces des engins d’époque aux proportions légèrement farfelues : « En faisant des recherches sur ce que les nazis préparaient en secret, on a découvert que leurs scientifiques travaillaient vraiment sur ces ailes volantes géantes à huit réacteurs ou ces coupés Rolls à pneus militaires… On a donc construit tout ça. Il parait qu’un début, le studio avait des doutes sur l’étiquette « film d’époque » et craignait que les enfants ne se sentent pas concernés. Je me suis dit : « Mais enfin, ils n’ont pas de gosses ou quoi ? ».

Heinrichs, meanwhile, took a fetishistic pleasure to create from scratch vintage gear slightly outlandish proportions: « In doing research on what the Nazis were preparing in secret, it was discovered that their scientists were working on these really giant flying wings to eight reactors or the Rolls to cut military tires … So we built it all. It seems only the beginning, the studio had doubts about the label « movie times  » and feared that children do not feel concerned. I told myself: « But, they do not have kids or what? ».

Dans un décor de laboratoire souterrain qui se trouve être l’antre rétro d’Howard Stark, le papa de Tony Stark (Iron Man), on regarde Joe Johnston diriger un scène au cours de laquelle Howard (Dominic Cooper) est projeté cinq mètre en arrière par le souffle d’une explosion. Johnston, vieille branche d’Hollywood rompue aux gros tournages et artisan précieux à l’ère du tout numérique, ne viendra pas nous parler. Mais Stephen Broussard se porte garant de lui : « Ecoutez, Joe est le type qui a story-boardé la poursuite en camion des Aventuriers de l’Arche perdue. Il est difficile de ne pas être d’accord avec lui. »

In a scene of underground laboratory which happens to be the cave of retro Howard Stark, Tony Stark’s dad (Iron Man), Joe Johnston we look head a scene in which Howard (Dominic Cooper) is projected five-meter back by the blast of an explosion. Johnston, an old broken branch to big Hollywood film shoots and craftsman in precious digital age, will not talk to us. But Stephen Broussard vouch for him: « Listen, Joe is the guy who storyboard the truck chase from Raiders of the Lost Ark. It is difficult not to agree with him. »

Pendant ce temps, la star se fait désirer. Chris Evans, ex-Torche humaine dans les 4 Fantastiques, est au coeur de la problématique maison de recherche d’unité et d’engagement durable. Si quelqu’un peut comprendre de l’intérieur le pari fou fait par Marvel, c’est bien lui. Captain America « himself ». Lorsqu’il arrive enfin, coiffé d’une mèche blonde retorse, l’acteur ne déçoit pas : « J’ai beaucoup hésité avant d’accepter, et pas seulement à cause de mon rôle dans les 4 Fantastiques. Pour tout dire, c’était intimidant et assez effrayant de s’engager pour neuf films d’affilée. Dieu merci, on a ramené le nombre à six (une trilogie Captain America et trois films Avengers)… Mais c’est quand même une décision qui a un impact gigantesque sur ma vie. Si tout se passe comme prévu, j’incarnerai Captain America jusqu’à mes 40 ans (il en a 29).. Ce n’était pas un choix facile. »

Ils auraient pu l’appeler Captain Good ou Captain Right. Mais bon c’est sûr que ça sonnait moins bien. »
